Completed program in March 2016
WHY I JOINED
I first learned about the program through a Facebook post. I wanted more information so I checked out the website and did some research. I really liked the coaching element and the fact that members can talk to people who understand the science of losing weight. I had already had some success losing weight at the time, but I was still looking for something that would help me stay focused and be even more successful. I thought that PowerUP would be a good fit.
My coach, Donna, was very helpful. She was very encouraging, especially when I first got started. She ended up helping me get into running. At the beginning of the program, one of my goals was to do a 5k, but I also really hate to run. I talked to Donna about it and she shared a personal story about how she was able to get into running and overcome the mental and physical obstacles. She also recommended a book for me to read and gave me some other really great running resources as well.
I have a few friends who also want to be healthier or want to lose some weight. One of them is actually a PowerUP member right now! When she saw that I was successful with the program, she was inspired to join. She’s really happy with PowerUP and it’s been great to see that she’s doing so well. Most of my friends are trying to lose weight on their own, so I’ve also been giving them advice and motivating them throughout the process. Now, I’ve got a good group of people who are just as commitment to their health and well-being as I am.

The program helped me get into a routine of exercising regularly so I definitely have a strong bias towards being active now. I move way more than I used to. A few weeks ago, I was at a TV shoot for work. Instead of sitting all day, which is what everyone else was doing, I was deliberately getting up and trying to move around the room. I tried to fit in some exercise when I could, like going for a walk when we weren’t shooting. I’ve found that I'm more active on the weekends too. I try to make plans with my friends that revolve around physical activity instead of eating.
POWERUP IS A LONG-TERM SOLUTION
"I have made better choices since joining PowerUP. The program helped me realize that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle for the long run."
PowerUP is definitely for the long term. I went through a 10-day period after completing the program where I went on vacation and I had to travel for work. I definitely indulged a bit on those trips, but I also exercised a lot. I have made better choices since joining PowerUP. Ever since I finished the program, I’ve stayed true to the main principles, like eating 5-6 times, eating protein rich foods, and exercising about 5 days a week. The program helped me realize that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle for the long run.
